Allpax is seeking a Utilities Process Engineer who is motivated, conscientious, and collaborative.  This vital role is responsible for developing, designing, and implementing new product designs. Candidate shall have the ability to create new designs, modify existing designs, and provide technical support to customers while adhering to budget and schedule requirements.

  • Application of mechanical engineering knowledge of industrial piping design and materials, manufacturing methods and processes to ensure piping system designs are functional, practical, economical and satisfy customer operating requirements
  • Handle multiple projects concurrently in a team environment
  • A good mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn are required.
  • Design industrial piping systems using a 3D CAD system
  • Knowledge of steam, water, and air piping industry standards
  • Ability to size valves, pumps, heat exchangers and cooling towers
  • Calculate cooling requirements and estimate equipment heating loads
  • Generate process and flow diagrams
  • Knowledge of piping & process instrumentation such as RTDs, pressure switches, flowmeters, turbidity meters, etc…
  • Confer with engineering team and sales personnel relative to system specification, project scope, machine capabilities, concepts, and problems
  • Select and specify purchased components such as pumps, valves, chillers, cooling towers & heat exchangers
  • Complete and document engineering changes, changes to design of parts, revising drawings and bill of materials to maintain updated drawings according to drafting procedures
  • Review project milestones to ensure timely execution
  • Act as a technical resource for customers and Service Department’s Service Technicians to address and resolve inquires and problems. Especially, during machine installation and start-up in customer plants.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSME or BSMET), or similar engineering or technical degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent industry experience in mechanical design required. 
  • 2 - 5 years’ experience designing industrial water and steam piping systems
  • Experience using SolidWorks (strong skills preferred)
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes, techniques, and practices
  • ASME Pressure Vessel experience a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to design size industrial piping and closed loop cooling systems.
  • Experience with steam piping design, valve selection, and pump sizing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to take direction
  • Desire to be hands-on with equipment building & design, ability to work both independently and in a team environment
