What is a Sr. Accountant?

The Sr. Accountant will direct the activities around financial reporting and cost accounting.

 

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have a Four-year college degree in accounting, finance, or specifically related discipline. CPA preferred. At least four years total experience, two of which in a senior or lead capacity.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviewing cash application of accounts receivables and posting the activity to the general ledger.
  • Reviewing daily sales invoicing and posting the activity to the general ledger.
  • Ensure accurate calculation of monthly depreciation and asset base.
  • Performing budget vs. actual and current month vs. prior month expense analysis.
  • Completing monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Reviewing the accuracy of accounts payable postings to the general ledger,
  • Reviewing the general ledger coding of credit card charges for accuracy.
  • Acting as a back-up for sales invoicing and accounts payable functions, as necessary.
  • Directing, following-up with, and resolving all identified issues from weekly cycle counts and periodic physical inventories at all locations.
  • Providing management with reports that can be used as a basis for product manufacturing or pricing changes.
  • Overseeing monthly direct labor reporting, inventory movement, sales, and cost of sales.
  • Reviewing standard costs and any related adjustments.
  • Calculating cost of sales for select sales transactions.
  • Analyzing costing reports and reviewing standards.
  • Assisting in strategic and tactical management planning, make vs. buy analysis, cost savings, accruing from changes in design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or wages from records of production costs.
  • Assisting in the development of company cost accounting policies, procedures, and standard costs.
  • Acting as a back-up to the Controller.
  • Responding to inquiries from other departments when they have questions or issues.
  • Interacting and communicating with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers, and peers effectively.
  • Complying with policies, procedures, standards, and rules of the Company.
  • Maintaining the quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
  • Maintaining work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
  • Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.
  • Performing all other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Required Experience and Education

  • Four-year college degree in accounting, finance, or specifically related discipline. CPA preferred. • Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English. • Four to six years total experience, two of which in a senior or lead capacity. • Ability to handle complex projects and responsibilities independently, referring only unusual situations to the Controller or Chief Financial Officer. • Ability to perform assigned accounting functions that are varied and somewhat difficult in character, involves limited responsibility, but evaluation and ingenuity are required. • Ability to effectively manage projects of a lengthy, on-going, complex nature. • Ability to provide vision and leadership in the area of responsibility. • Ability to utilize advanced spreadsheet and analytical techniques. • Successful passing of a routine motor vehicle and credit report.

 

Physical and Technical Environment

  • Minimal lifting of up to 40 pounds occasionally. • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend, and stoop in a normal office environment. • Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs, utilizing elevator. • Exposure to varying environments and cultures at the job site, changing deadlines, strict time constraints. • Normal vision and manual dexterity. • Normal office environment - changing deadlines, project assignments, very strict and continuous time constraints. • Normal shop floor environment when conducting cycle counts and periodic physical inventory.
