JOB SUMMARY:

H&P is seeking an experienced senior manager, internal and field communications to support our internal corporate clients as well as global rig operations. This position that will act as a key business partner for our internal partners and operations teams and provide communications counsel, content creation and strategic execution to help engage employees around the globe.

The position will play a key role in enabling the transformation of H&Ps internal and field communication function and will be responsible for the development, management and execution of internal and field communication strategies, programs and activities. This subject-matter expert will have strong project management skills and experience creating a range of communications materials and managing all communications channels as well as strong leadership abilities, excellent strategic communications skills and a collaborative work style to effectively operate across functions and divisions. This role requires effective leadership, partnership and influence of diverse internal and external team members inside H&P and with outside agencies.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter with a passion for people and bringing innovation to the field of corporate communications. The position will be hybrid, requiring 1-2 days working at our headquarters in Tulsa.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

While there won’t be a “typical” day for this position, here are some of the responsibilities the job will include:

  • Manage and execute the company’s internal and field communications strategy that is designed to inspire employees and enrich the overall culture, vision, strategy and values
  • Create innovative communication tactics to introduce new programs, processes or information, to increase awareness and adoption of current business-driven programs to drive employee engagement and business results
  • Provide advice and guidance to executives and business partners
  • Develop impactful and strategic global communication plans, key messages and material that helps inform, educate, engage and encourage employees to contribute to strategic priorities
  • Direct, have oversight and approve writing, production and distribution of employee communications materials
  • Proactively assess communications effectiveness for the purpose of continual improvement
  • Establish company best practices and tools for internal communications and regularly research new approaches and industry best practices
  • Oversee end-to-end planning and execution of town halls, monthly management meetings, webcasts and other internal events including the development of content (agenda, presentation materials, executive remarks)
  • Manage Intranet site, communication boards and the timely and professional execution of internal communication strategies to ensure employees are aware of key events
  • Support communications for the CEO including, but not limited to, monthly CEO updates, CEO Town Halls, CEO leadership calls, and CEO videos
  • Develop and implement an internal and field communications strategy in conjunction with senior leadership that supports our strategic priorities and achievement of our transformation objectives

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field
  • 10+ years progressive experience in corporate or employee communications, preferably in the energy industry, with an emphasis on project management, change management and employee engagement initiatives
  • 5+ years supervisory experience
  • Understanding of new internal communications techniques and technologies, internal social engagement platforms and the ability to translate these into locally relevant engagement opportunities
  • Strong business acumen, including the ability to understand and relay complex information about market trends, technology and financial performance
  • Effectively able to measure and report back the impact of internal communications campaigns
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud software’s and ability to learn additional software applications (Canto, Hootsuite)
  • Able to communicate and relate to employees at various levels of the organization, from rig workers to executives
  • Strong knowledge of AP style and expert corporate writing skills
  • Previous experience managing projects with creative agencies, including graphic design, video production and copywriting

What will set you apart:

  • Communications certification such as APR or SCMP
  • Graphic design, photography and/or video editing skills
  • Experience with SharePoint intranets
