Summary/Objective
The Publication Producer for The Denver Post interacts on a daily basis with advertising, the newsrooms, internal and external clients, as well as any supervision of employees to ensure that The Post publications are produced accurately and on time.
Publication Producers are also responsible for day-to-day print-and-deliver operations. Order and process jobs through the production workflow, maintain detailed records on jobs they handle. This team works closely with a wide variety of outside vendors and internal departments.
Essential Functions
Maintains consistent communication with internal and external clients, print vendors and directs employees regarding the production of The Post publications
Works and coordinates with key members of advertising, creative, design, Customer Advocates, newsrooms, management, and others to keep all jobs in line with established production schedules and practices
Makes approved changes or corrections to advertisements or publications as needed to keep jobs accurate and on schedule
Creates, revises and communicates changes to page dummies for any required publications
Paginates classified and classified related products
Reviews and approves proofs for accuracy and successful print reproduction
Sets up or verifies setup of all requisite systems prior to operation
Manages the output or other delivery of publications to any required production facilities
Coordinates with the sales representative the production of any print job produced in-house
Creates and distributes daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports as needed for the successful operation of the department
Maintains and modifies any department-related databases, spreadsheets or schedules
Direct employee tasks and the order in which they are to be performed
Exercise judgement and discretion when assigning employee duties or directing employee work
Competencies & Skills
Knowledge of publication layout systems, pagination systems, output systems and ad production systems is a plus
Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, the adobe CS as well as Mac and PC operating systems
Must be detail oriented and have the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks/projects
Must have excellent customer service skills in the face of constant and numerous change requests
Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as listening skills
Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision
Supervisory Responsibility
This position may supervise the day to day activities of up to 5 employees including hours of work, coaching, and discipline and scheduling overtime if necessary.
Travel
This position does not require travel
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associate degree in printing or related field or 3 years of industry experience in printing;
Preferred Experience
Print brokering experience is a plus
Work Environment
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
All non-production roles should outline, this role might become permanently remote.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 10 pounds.

The hourly wage for this position is $24.98.
