Statco-DSI is an industry leader in design, modification, and implementation of sanitary process systems used in the dairy, food and beverage, and bio-pharmaceutical fields and we currently have and immediate opening for a PROJECT ESTIMATOR/ ENGINEER out of our St. Louis, MO office.

This position is for a project estimator/engineer.  This position will be responsible for helping individual engineers, project managers, subject matter experts, sales, and business managers to estimate and prepare quotations for sanitary equipment and the installations associated with that equipment.  This individual will have a good mechanical and physical understanding of equipment manufacture and customer site layout orientations for installations.

Are you motivated by this work?

  • Utilize the base cost estimation sheets for overall cost summary and suggest a profit level for the project proposals.
  • Prepare Bills of Materials (BOM’s) for projects and the cost associated with the BOM being developed.
  • Understand rough PID’s associated with project development.
  • Coordinate with engineering group, sales, procurement, customer to develop estimations and final customer proposal.
  • Work with procurement and vendors to obtain cost for equipment and components.
  • Work with the shop supervisors as needed to estimate labor cost.
  • Work with engineering and the sales team to develop a scope of supply for the proposal composition.
  • Present proposal and pricing recommendations to group based upon typical quotes and past customer proposals.
  • Develop estimation templates for future use.
  • Develop checklists and decision matrix templates to help engineering and sales present proposals faster with a clearly defined scope of supply.
  • Develop project schedules based upon the proposal scope of supply.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites 20-30% of the time.

  • Experience in an estimating role
  • Better than average understanding of Excel
  • Some experience in proposal preparation and development
  • Basis understanding of pumps, valves, instruments, tubing, piping, and project management
  • Some understanding of profit levels, sales coordination, and cost tracking
  • Basic understanding of sales terms, schedules, contract terms and conditions
  • At least five (5) years of experience in an estimating and proposal role without a degree or
  • An associate’s degree and at least three (3) years' experience in an estimating and proposal role or
  • A 4 year engineering or similar degree and (1) years' experience in estimating and proposal role
