Come join our team at Georgia Crown Distributing Co. as a professional, reliable Procurement Associate. Georgia Crown is a full-service alcoholic beverage distributor with wholesale operations doing business in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee. This position will be responsible for all aspects of inbound & outbound freight cost analysis, budgeting and control. Along with being responsible for analyzing and ordering inventory to supply our distribution centers.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Procurement of inventory for all market areas (GA/AL/TN)
- Analyze and evaluate suggested order needs from supply chain planning software and confirm accuracy of order recommendations
- Update forecasts based on new programs and/or product placements
- Analyze lead times for both domestic and imported products and make necessary adjustments
- Maintain levels of inventory that maximize turns and limits overstock
- Enter/approve purchase orders for the procurement of inventory
- Communicate with supplier ordering departments to ensure receipt and accuracy of PO’s
- Work with suppliers and carriers to ensure consolidated loads are running on schedule
- Responsible for building orders based on supplier and/or carrier requirements
- Internal communication with sales teams and trade marketing on arrivals of PO’s
- Responsible for new item set up and maintenance
- Responsible for maintaining supplier product costs in host system and informing trade marketing team of product increases
- Responsible for ensuring freight costs are competitive with market conditions and weekly processing of invoices
- Compare quoted costs to actual bills received and ensuring costs are accurate
- Responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection procedures on all imports
- Other duties as assigned by upper management.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma/GED equivalent required; college degree preferred
- Must be familiar with inventory management/warehousing terms, have knowledge of LTL/long haul/rail transportation and U.S. Customs and Border Protection protocols.
- Minimum 6 months previous purchasing/procurement experience required
- Must have intermediate computer skills to include, but not limited to Microsoft Office (I.e. outlook, word, excel, etc.) and 10-key data entry.
- Must have above average analytical/communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally/effectively in both written and verbal forms.
- Must be able to react quickly to rapidly changing stock levels and sales trends
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
- Previous import/export experience/knowledge preferred
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Must have ability to work overtime if needed
- Must be able to pass background check (i.e. police backgrounds, reference checks…).
