What is a Process Engineer?

The Process Engineer will have a Bachelor’s degree, in Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience in an engineering or technical field. At least two years total related experience.

 

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will manage continuous manufacturing improvement projects and support manufacturing operation to assure customer satisfaction, quality, safety, productivity and cost control.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide resources and continuous improvements to manufacturing processes.
  2. Correct and prevent manufacturing problems related to the process and productivity.
  3. Monitor and improve operational metrics such as Yield, Productivity, and Efficiency.
  4. Monitor and control flow of production processes.
  5. Evaluate and redesign the manufacturing areas using AutoCad (or other software).
  6. Develop and implement programs to reduce costs and increase productivity.
  7. Analyze and evaluate capital cost metrics.
  8. Develop work instructions for products (not R&D new releases).
  9. Actively participate in departmental teams.
  10. Evaluate process equipment and develop capital projects appropriations as required for new capabilities or equipment replacements.
  11. Develop / update value stream maps, standard work, and error proofing tools.
  12. Perform detailed studies of the utilization of plant, equipment, and personnel.
  13. Analyze engineering design documents and/or prototypes and makes recommendations concerning required methods, processes, tools, jigs, figures, etc., which are required to fabricate a product.
  14. Use Root Cause analysis tools to determine issue(s) with a team.
  15. Lead Root Cause meetings and drive the action items that result from the meeting.
  16. Confer with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate plan implementation and recommendations.
  17. Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.
  18. Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
  19. Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
  20. Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
  21. Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance
  22. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Required Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree, in Engineering preferred, or equivalent experience in an engineering or technical field. • Two to five years total related experience. • Lean manufacturing experience preferred. • Ability to handle complex projects and responsibilities independently. • Extensive knowledge and use of departmental and Company policies, procedures, standards, and rules; ability to interpret policies and practices in unusual situations and make recommendations for change. • Ability to effectively manage projects of a lengthy, on-going, complex nature. • Ability to utilize advanced spreadsheet and analytical techniques. • Successful passing of a routine motor vehicle report.

 

Physical and Technical Environment

  • Minimal lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally. • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop in a normal office environment. • Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs, utilizing elevator. • Separate exposure to machine and tool hazards requiring care and attention to safety rules and standards. • Must respond to changing requirements and working conditions.
