Job Description

Summary/Objective

Introduction to the operation of the Color liner press in our Concord printing plant. Includes handling of newsprint rolls, preparing for operation, plating, running of the press, and cleaning and routine maintenance.

Essential Functions

• Under supervision, will train on operation of the press units, including plating, setting ink and rollers, webbing, and operating controls
• Newsprint roll handling, newsprint warehouse operations, and reel room operations
• Operate forklift/clamp truck in a safe, competent manner
• Press maintenance tasks
• Work in a safe manner using all appropriate safety equipment, including guards and safe buttons

• Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to work with machinery

Travel

Required or Preferred Education

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Required or Preferred Experience

• Previous machine operation experience preferred
• Previous warehouse operations experience, including fork lift operation, preferred

Work Environment

• This job operates in a warehouse and printing plant environment. This role routinely uses pallet jacks and forklifts.
• Must be able to work with chemicals, loud noise, dusty areas and moving parts safely and wear hearing protection the entire shift.
• This job is not a remote position; employee will report to a production plant.

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
• The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• Requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis. Heavy work may exert in excess of 100 pounds of force to move objects.
