Bay Area News Group, East Bay, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking a Multi Media Account Executive to join the team!

MediaNews Group offers news reporting and third party advertising and marketing opportunities through its multi-platform products which include: web, mobile, tablet, and print. A Multi Media Account Executive is in charge of Developing effective advertising programs to meet advertisers’ marketing objectives with a combination of both print and digital advertising. Cultivating relationships with clients with an emphasis on new business. Establishing and achieving departmental sales goals; both personal and team.

Major Job Functions include:

Summary

  • Prospecting: Develop a sales plan that includes category focus , seasonal and special section opportunities and Top 25 pipeline accounts. Prospect heavily for digital opportunities. Pursue past, new and current advertising prospects. Focus heavy on community competition.

  • Strategic Assessments and recommendations: Assess sales opportunities, develop customer digital programs and create ABCD proposals that demonstrate value.

  • Achieve monthly objectives – meet with sales manager on a weekly basis, modifying sales objectives as necessary to achieve monthly revenue goals and maximum revenue growth. Performance indicators include revenue, active accounts, contract performance and share of market.

  • Sales Administration: Accurately process advertising orders, spec ads, keep track of customer’s account balances and payments. Send in weekly aging reports, digital flash reports, and Top 25 pipeline reports. Respond quickly and accurately to manager’s and customers requests.

  • Responsible for revenue and active account growth, financial forecasting and checking your daily booking report to ensure your orders are billing out the correct amount, and that all dates are scheduled. Billing errors may result in legal disputes and disciplinary action. Responsible for watching customer aging report and resolving any past 60 day due balances.

  • Must be able to prioritize each day and goals, know how and where to find information that is needed to create proposals, and solve advertisers problems and present them with solution to their advertising needs. Work through challenges with coworkers and difficult customers. Listen, acknowledge and overcome client objections. Be willing to help fellow coworkers with their problems and sales issues.

  • Frequent interaction with direct sales director to identify sales opportunities and maximize revenue potential.

Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills required. Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Strong understanding of internet and mobile advertising.

  • Strong consultative selling skills with ability to close a majority of sales

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Detail oriented organization and time management skills needed.

  • Ability to motivate self to achieve personal and departmental goals

  • Able to create and present proactive print and digital campaigns.

  • Able to up sell current clients and see opportunities with them

  • Able to drive own vehicle

  • Committed to providing excellent customer service

  • Some college required

  • 1-3 years prior experience

Work Environment

  • Sales reps are expected to work 40 hours per week, Monday thru Friday. Expected to be in the office as requested. A combination of remote and in office (when permitted) currently being used.
