Job Overview:

AtSpacely Sprockets, we’re powering the future of advanced manufacturing through innovation, precision, and a relentless pursuit of quality. Our Kenosha facility is a hub of engineering excellence, where cutting-edge technology meets world-class craftsmanship. Here, we design and manufacture the high-performance sprockets and mechanical components that keep industries—and imaginations—moving forward. Join our dedicated team and help shape the tools that drive tomorrow.

Why We Need You:

You’re a master of your craft, turning technical blueprints into high-precision tools. As our Mold Maker, your expertise is essential to building, maintaining, and repairing the complex injection molds that form the backbone of our manufacturing operations. Your work ensures we deliver the highest quality components with speed, accuracy, and reliability. You’re the critical link between engineering ingenuity and high-volume production.

Here’s What You’ll Be Doing:

As a key player in our tooling and manufacturing team, you’ll ensure our molds meet the demanding specs and schedules required to produce top-tier mechanical components. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Mold Fabrication: Create new, high-precision molds using blueprints and CAD data—leveraging CNC and manual machining techniques including milling, turning, grinding, and EDM.

  • Mold Maintenance & Repair: Keep molds running like new through routine preventative maintenance and timely, complex repairs that reduce downtime and maximize performance.

  • Precision Machining & Fitting: Machine parts to tight tolerances; carry out expert hand-fitting, polishing, and fine-tuning to achieve optimal mold and part function.

  • Troubleshooting: Solve mold-related challenges like flashing, sticking, venting, and part defects during both trials and full-scale production.

  • Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Production, and Process Technicians to refine designs, boost manufacturability, and execute improvements.

  • Quality Assurance: Use precision instruments—micrometers, calipers, CMM—to inspect and verify component and mold accuracy.

  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of builds, modifications, repairs, and maintenance activities.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive better outcomes by suggesting design tweaks, new materials, or process enhancements to improve efficiency, performance, and tool longevity.

You Need These Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Mold Maker or Tool & Die Maker, especially in injection molding.

  • Journeyman Toolmaker/Mold Maker certification or equivalent expertise.

  • Skilled in operating both manual and CNC machining equipment, including mills, lathes, grinders, and EDMs (wire and sinker).

  • Proficient in reading blueprints, interpreting technical drawings, and understanding GD&T.

  • Strong knowledge of mold assembly, polishing, fitting, and troubleshooting.

  • Expert use of precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.).

  • Familiarity with mold steels, heat treating, and common mold-making materials.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Comfortable working both independently and within a team-driven, fast-paced environment.

It Would Be Nice If:

  • You’re familiar with CAD software (like SolidWorks) for viewing models and drawings.

  • You’ve used Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).

  • You have experience with high-volume, multi-cavity, hot runner injection molds.

  • You understand injection molding processes and plastic material properties.

  • You’ve worked with sustainable or bio-based materials in mold-making applications.

  • You know your way around lean manufacturing principles.
