Allpax is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who is motivated, conscientious, and collaborative.  This vital role is responsible for developing, designing, and implementing new product designs. Candidates shall have the ability to create new designs, modify existing designs, and provide technical support to customers while adhering to budget and schedule requirements.

  • Application of mechanical engineering knowledge of machinery principles and materials, manufacturing methods and processes to create designs that are functional, practical, economical and satisfy customer operating requirements
  • Handle multiple projects concurrently in a team environment
  • Involved in hands-on solution of manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • A good mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn are required.
  • Design automated equipment using a 3D CAD system
  • Prepare Bill of Materials listing parts to purchase or fabricate for assembly
  • Confer with engineering team and sales personnel relative to machine specification, project scope, machine capabilities, concepts, and problems
  • Support internal manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Select and specify purchased components such as pneumatics, AC/Servo motors, power transmission, sensors, and conveyors
  • Complete and document engineering changes, changes to design of parts, revising drawings and bill of materials to maintain updated drawings according to drafting procedures
  • Review project milestones to ensure timely execution
  • Act as a technical resource for customers and Service Department’s Service Technicians to address and resolve inquires and problems. Especially, during machine installation and start-up in customer plants.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSME or BSMET), or similar engineering or technical degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent industry experience in mechanical design required. 
  • 2 - 5 years’ experience engineering, design and fabrication of automated machinery preferred
  • Experience using SolidWorks (strong skills preferred)
  • General knowledge of manufacturing processes, techniques, and practices
  • Experience with steam, water, and air utility sizing is a plus
  • ASME pressure vessel design and process piping is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to utilize knowledge to provide creative design ideas
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to take direction
  • Desire to be hands-on with equipment building & design, ability to work both independently and in a team environment
