What is a Quality Assurance Manager?

The Quality Assurance Manager will direct and manage quality operations. Supervise employees performing inspection tasks, reporting, and provide guidance, review and implementation of contract obligations from customer purchase orders and regulatory standards.

 

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have a four year degree, or CWI or work experience equivalence of 5 years in fabrication of metal pressure products. Ten years minimum experience with Quality Systems (ex. ASME, ISO9001, etc.), project reviews, implementations, tracking, planning and documentation of outcomes, three years of which must be in a supervisory capacity.

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Manage quality control program to maintain compliance with National and International Standards (e.g. ISO9001, ASME, Pressure Equipment Directive, ATEX-Ex, India Boiler Regulations).
  2. Perform ISO related work: internal audits, introductory training, etc.
  3. Plan and direct activities concerned with development, application and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials and products.
  4. Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation, utilizing knowledge in engineering fields such as chemical, electrical or mechanical.
  5. Coordinate and monitor activities of workers engaged in inspecting and testing assembled components, parts and subassemblies proceeding through stages of assembly process.
  6. May perform duties of absent workers to maintain work schedules.
  7. Confer with other supervisors and review assembly specifications and production schedules.
  8. May conduct work group (team) meetings to relay management information to workers, and solicit response to work-related problems.
  9. Interpret standards and procedures, and assist workers in resolving technical problems.
  10. Maintain current program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement and analytical equipment and facilities.
  11. Develop and implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
  12. Direct workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product or process quality and reliability.
  13. Compile and write training material and conduct training sessions on quality control activities.
  14. May specialize in areas of quality control engineering, such as design, incoming material, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, inventory control, metrology, automated testing, software, research and development, and administrative application.
  15. Respond to quality issues that arise during the course of the day.
  16. Review and provide information to the Management Team, in support of the assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of the Quality Systems. 17. Manage human resource activities within the area of accountability, to include staffing, performance management, salary administration, and other related activities.
  17. Interact and communicate with all levels of employees within the Company, as well as suppliers, customers and peers effectively.
  18. Comply with all safety procedures in each area assigned, including but not limited to, wearing protective clothing, special handling of chemicals, special handling of product, safety/rescue equipment usage, etc. 20. Comply with policies, procedures, standards and rules of the Company.
  19. Maintain quality assurance policy consistent with ISO standards.
  20. Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
  21. Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
  22. Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Required Experience and Education

  • Minimum four year degree, or CWI or work experience equivalence of 5 years in fabrication of metal pressure products.  Able to read, write, and follow verbal instructions in Standard English. • Ten years minimum experience with Quality Systems (ex. ASME, ISO9001, etc.), project reviews, implementations, tracking, planning and documentation of outcomes, three years of which must be in a supervisory capacity. • Ability to provide vision and leadership in a critical area of Company business.• Ability to handle complex projects and tasks independently within established standards. • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities at a time, self-motivated and pro-active. • Must be organized, a team player and committed to quality systems. • Ability to plan and schedule the work of others. • Experience with performing audits (ISO, ASME). • Able to support regulatory audits by government agencies, regulatory and customers. • Experience with Microsoft Office. • Assure procedures are adequate to support corporate goals. Ability to coach and motivate employees, interpret and communicate company goals, policies and procedures to employees. • Complete working knowledge and use of departmental and Company policies, procedures, standards and rules; ability to interpret policies and practices in unusual situations. • Must be computer literate.  • Successful passing of a routine motor vehicle report.

 

Physical and Technical Environment

  • Minimal lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally. •Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop in a normal office environment. • Regularly required to walk or stand, bend or twist, climb, reach with hands or arms. • Ability to routinely travel throughout multi-floor office and shop area, walking, climbing stairs, utilizing elevator. • Normal vision and manual dexterity. • Specific vision requirements include close vision, including passing of the Jagger II vision acuity screening. • Clean and orderly manufacturing environment and/or normal office conditions, changing deadlines and project requirements, strict time constraints. • Exposure to noise, dust, heat and cold on a regular basis. • Separate exposure to machine and tool hazards requiring care and attention to safety rules and standards. • Variable environments, some travel, customers with varying temperaments, changing deadlines and project assignments.
