This Manufacturing Manager is part of the Operations Leadership Team, which includes the Plant Manager and four Production Shift Supervisors.  As such, this position is expected to assist supervisors in identifying barriers to meeting business objectives and facilitates barrier removal or escalates to the Plant Manager, as appropriate.  Must be prepared to offer guidance and/or make decisions on behalf of the Plant Manager, in their absence.   

Daily work activities will focus primarily on the following Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Safety, Quality, Delivery & Productivity (Cost).

  • Safety related activities include, but are not limited to: Safety Awareness Communication, managing the Safety Observation Tours (SOT) program, and serving as the site Safety Coordinator and as a member of the Corporate Safety Committee.
  • Quality related activities include, but are not limited to: assisting Supervisors with customer complaint investigations and resolution, tracking internal calibrations and managing the site GMP Program.
  • Delivery related activities include, but are not limited to: supervising the daily operations of the Shipping & Receiving department, and the publication of production schedules.
  • Productivity (Cost) related activities include, but are not limited to: participating in the Daily Production Meeting, managing daily operations for the Maintenance, Platemaking & Ink departments.
  • Oversight of discipline on the entire manufacturing floor to ensure all rules (policies, breaks, schedules & procedures) and best practices are followed.
  • Ensure that all employees are working in a safe manner and abiding by OSHA standards and company safety policies.
  • Carry out any disciplinary actions required for direct reports or their employees, communicate with and involve other leaders in any actions involving their employees.
  • Responsible for administrative requirements (time sheets, vacation schedules, etc) for assigned personnel.
  • Lead the documentation of standards and training effort for the manufacturing support departments and employees. Ensure all departments are working towards fully documented standard work and that robust training programs are in place.
  • Enforce all manufacturing best practices and contribute new best practice ideas to the operations leadership team.
  • Ensure the manufacturing floor is kept in a neat and organized manner, according to basic 5s Principles and Manufacturing Department Policy.
  • Foster a positive shift environment by engaging with employees.
  • Help to build morale by working with all production personnel from time to time.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • 8+ years of manufacturing experiencing, with 5+ years in a leadership role (lead, supervisor, manager, etc).
  • Proficiency in programs such as Outlook, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to enter data into spreadsheets for routine reports.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
