Overview

Come join our team at Tennessee Crown in Nashville Tn as a Lead Delivery Driver. The objective of this position is to lead the driver and warehouse team in meeting the transportation department’s goals of making timely and accurate deliveries in a professional and safe manner as well as maintaining safety and operational standards in the warehouse. 

Responsibilities

The Lead Driver will be responsible for training new drivers and warehouse staff, assist drivers and warehouse with delivery paperwork, help deliver “open” routes as needed, conduct driver and warehouse observations, help ensure DOT regulations are followed, and other transportation duties as assigned.

These duties will also include overseeing daily warehouse activities that will include daily and weekly checks of equipment and inventory as well as receiving and putting away orders.

• Check batteries weekly in Equipment
• Keep maintenance of delivery vehicles current
• Responsible for receiving bulk orders and putting away
• Help the delivery team make timely and accurate deliveries in a professional and safe manner
• Train new drivers and assist drivers if necessary
• Conduct driver observations
• Help ensure DOT regulations are followed
• Conduct daily / weekly cycle counts
• Assist in monthly inventories
• Drivers are required to load/unload vehicle and perform other warehouse duties when not making deliveries.
• Must be able to report to work on time and work until route completion, there is no definite quitting time. Must be able to work overtime when needed (while complying with FMCSA hours of service regulations)
• Complete deliveries to pre-assigned customers daily. Routes are subject to change.
• Conduct pre/post trip inspections and properly log any defects.
• Apply proper safety techniques while climbing in/out of vehicle and loading/unloading cases of product (with and/or without ramp) from the back of the delivery vehicle.
• Position will require heavy lifting, carrying cases of product alone and with aid of a hand truck
• Position will require sitting, standing, driving, walking, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
• Drivers will be required to deliver in all weather conditions unless deemed unsafe by company management.
• Drivers are expected to observe all federal and state traffic laws and drive with caution to avoid causing breakage and shifting merchandise.
• Verify accurate product is delivered to the appropriate recipient.
• Verify accurate funds are received at the time of delivery (drivers will not accept cash)
• Must provide outstanding customer service and maintain professional business relationship with customers.
• Will apply basic mathematical skills to calculate changes to invoices.
• Other duties assigned

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• One year lead experience in a warehouse or delivery setting preferred
• One year or more experience driving a delivery van or larger.
• One year or more experience working in a warehouse environment preferred
• Must have and be able to maintain valid Driver’s License
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
• Must be able to pass background check (i.e. police backgrounds, reference checks…).
• Must have acceptable Motor Vehicle Record:o Cannot have more than 2 moving violations/accidents in last 3 years.o Cannot have DUI, reckless driving or hit-and-run in last 5 years.
