Description

The duties of an Engineering Technician will work closely with the Engineering staff and Engineering Manager to detail and complete the design work needed that is relevant to Simplex manufacturing processes. Both Quality and Quantity standards will be required in order to meet the exacting requirements of our customers. Proficiency will be attained on the job including the acquisition of a working knowledge of our products and the application of them. This is a technical position involving manufacturing knowledge and application of that knowledge to interpret requirements and complete the design solutions. The Engineering Technician is expected to grow quickly in knowledge and ability to the point of assuming independent work in a period of 3-6 months and demonstrate continual growth thereafter.

  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager and other senior engineering personnel to complete design work assigned in a timely manner
  • Analyze sales orders and customer specification in order to design equipment consistent with customer requirements
  • This position will be focused on Electrical drawing diagrams, or wire drawings produced from the mark-ups from the Electrical Engineers. They must be produced with the objective always front-of-mind that the drawings are to be assembled on the production floor immediately.
  • Input information into proprietary software accurately and efficiently
  • Maintaining a workflow that ensures timely adherence to all deadlines


Requirements
  • Technical background including education and/or experience equivalent to 2-year degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3-5 year’s experience working with engineering in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail, and a working understanding of mathematics and electrical theory
  • Ability to identify (through both observation and conversation) key requirements needed to develop products that will meet the demands of our customers
  • Moderate computer skills including familiarity with Office and ability to learn proprietary software quickly and accurately
  • Problem solving skills and ability to work effectively under demanding deadlines
  • Ability to remain seated and work from a computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to receive and retain instructional information
  • Must be able to communicate (read, write and speak) the English language clearly
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal formats
  • Significant familiarity with AutoCAD (SolidWorks and SolidWorks Electrical a plus)
  • PLC programming experience a plus
