Summary/Objective

The Opinion Page Editor for the Daily Camera in Boulder Colorado is responsible for the Opinion pages published 5-6 days per week. The editor supplies a list of ideas for the Sunday editorial. The editor writes the editorial based upon the collective opinion of the board. The editor may also write a mid-week column occasionally.

Essential Functions

• Ability to work on 5 editorial pages per week in the Daily Camera.

• Must write one to two local editorial opinions for the board per week.

• Editing content.

• Work directly with Hub designers on producing daily pages.

• Keep the website updated and share content across a variety of social media platforms.

• Supply a weekly topic for the Community Editorial Board.

• Manage the Community Editorial Board, all freelance writers, finding replacement writers when the need arises.

• Work with Denver Post Opinion Page Editor to share content when appropriate.

Competencies & Skills

• Successful candidates must have a solid writing and editing background.

• Ability to communicate with reporters and editors.

• Ability to work under tight deadline constraints.

• Comfortable working with internal content management systems.

• Multitasking and organizational skills are key.

• Must have a portfolio available for review of opinion column examples.

• Must have strong written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Education

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.

Preferred Experience

• 5 or more years of experience preferred.

Work Environment

• This position is remote and must live near Boulder, CO.
