Summary/Objective
The Opinion Page Editor for the Daily Camera in Boulder Colorado is responsible for the Opinion pages published 5-6 days per week. The editor supplies a list of ideas for the Sunday editorial. The editor writes the editorial based upon the collective opinion of the board. The editor may also write a mid-week column occasionally.
Essential Functions
Ability to work on 5 editorial pages per week in the Daily Camera.
Must write one to two local editorial opinions for the board per week.
Editing content.
Work directly with Hub designers on producing daily pages.
Keep the website updated and share content across a variety of social media platforms.
Supply a weekly topic for the Community Editorial Board.
Manage the Community Editorial Board, all freelance writers, finding replacement writers when the need arises.
Work with Denver Post Opinion Page Editor to share content when appropriate.
Competencies & Skills
Successful candidates must have a solid writing and editing background.
Ability to communicate with reporters and editors.
Ability to work under tight deadline constraints.
Comfortable working with internal content management systems.
Multitasking and organizational skills are key.
Must have a portfolio available for review of opinion column examples.
Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Education
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
Preferred Experience
5 or more years of experience preferred.
Work Environment
This position is remote and must live near Boulder, CO.
