Summary/Objective

MNGi, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking a Creative Content Producer/Web Producer to join the team! MediaNews Group offers news reporting and third party advertising and marketing opportunities through its multi-platform products which include: web, mobile, tablet, and print. We are one of the largest media groups in the U.S., serving high-value audiences and connecting advertisers to them. MNG publishes award-winning content (49 Pulitzers) that amasses and engages a nationwide audience via 800 multi-media platforms including web, mobile, social, and print. We are transforming the news industry.

This position is based out of Denver, Colorado with the option for remote work.

Essential Functions

• Assist the Digital Editor in all matters pertaining to the quality and smooth operation of digital content.

• Translate print articles to the web and ensure all headlines and content are correct and attention-grabbing.

• Make sure that every photo has a photo credit.

• Create and curate content for a dynamic web presence.

• Ensure that stories are posted to and appear on the website and social media in a timely manner.

• Edit any online version of the story so that it is chronologically consistent with the time of its online publication, i.e., will “today” for print appear as “today” online?

• Manage online pages and other channels to attract readers.

• Ensure digital content appears on social media.

• Supply, edit, and correct copy in special section content.

Competencies & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, marketing or equivalent experience.

• Experience at a daily newspaper or online news outlet.

• Familiarity with Adobe Suite is preferred.

• Experience working across a variety of social media and web platforms.

• Multitasking and organizational skills are key.

• Successful candidates must have a solid editing background.

• News writing/editing skills.

• Knowledge of Associated Press Style guidelines.

• Word processing and computer skills required.

• Able to handle deadlines and work as a team player.

Preferred Education

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, marketing or equivalent experience.

Work Environment

• This job operates in a professional office environment and at the Company and client sites for business meetings and presentations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

• This position may be a permanent remote position.

The annual salary range is $60,000 - $70,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, and a 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
