Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team at Texas A&M University, TX. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our Vertical Machining Center (3-4 axis) equipped with Fanuc machines. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development projects while utilizing your expertise in GD&T.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate the Vertical Machining Center (3-4 axis) to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on the machines to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Utilize GD&T principles to interpret and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to optimize machining processes and improve overall efficiency.
- Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of production activities, including material usage, machine settings, and inspection results.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating Vertical Machining Centers (3-4 axis) is required.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T principles and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with Fanuc machines and programming is highly desirable.
- Proficient in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in CNC machining is a plus.
