Southwest News Media, located in the south metro area of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, is looking for a new member to join our recruitment and inside sales team. Busy department serves hundreds of clients each month, working primarily with recruitment clients and small businesses that advertise in our services directory. Assists with layout of print pages for 11 weekly publications and uploads digital ads to our websites.

We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our Inside Sales Team. As an Inside Sales Representative, you'll achieve success by utilizing professional sales and customer service skills and applying knowledge of the newspaper, the market, competing media, and the customer's needs to provide advertising solutions. Will be assisting new and existing customers in all aspects of classified advertising.

Essential Functions

• We are looking for a true hunter mentality, one who prospects and networks daily.

• Successfully sell display and our digital advertising solutions to all current advertisers and non-advertisers as assigned and prospected.

• Service advertisers by phone by providing concepts of newspaper advertising, accurate marketing data, ideas for advertising campaigns and presentations for long-term commitments to newspaper and digital advertising.

• Schedule and handle all paperwork on a timely basis with minimal error including adjustments, sales reports, market presentations and ad paperwork.

• Review advertisements with customers and obtain approvals on the final advertising copy and schedule.

• Require accounts to adhere to space reservation, creative and camera-ready deadlines.

• Log sales activity (prospecting, opportunities, revenue, and next steps).

• Other tasks as assigned.

Competencies & Skills

• Customer service experience

• Computer, clerical and verbal communication skills

• Knowledge of digital advertising and marketing solutions is highly desired

Required or Preferred Education

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred

Work Environment

• This position may be permanently remote. This job operates in a professional office environment and at the Company and client sites for business meetings and presentations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 30 pounds.

Other Duties: Fill-in for obituary servicing desk when primary employee is absent.
