Job Description

Essential Functions

• Oversees the operations of Distribution facilities to include visiting the centers during the operating hours between midnight and 6:00 am.

• Contacts subscribers and works with the Distributors to resolve delivery problems. Checks delivery when necessary to ensure delivery concerns are resolved in a timely manner.

• Manages Distributors performance via the Independent Contractor agreement and sets expectations and performance standards.

• Collaborates with the Circulation Operations Management Team, Customer Service Director and other staff in the Circulation Division

• Manages paperwork necessary to ensure that all independent contractor agreements remain current.

• Manages the distribution of newspapers and meets service requirements of various national publishing partners. May be required to deliver a newspaper route or redeliver a missed delivery to a subscriber’s residence.

• Any other duties that may be assigned by supervisor

• Ability to lead, plan, organize and manage. Ability to perform in a stressful, rapidly changing, deadline oriented work environment.

• Knowledge of independent contract laws.

• Ability to analyze and compile statistical data in order to manage key metrics.

• Ability to solve problems within a team environment.

• Proficient in the use of Excel and Word and email

• Customer service and communication are key requirements for success in this role.

• Regular and reliable attendance is required

Required or Preferred Education

• 4-year college degree preferred but not required

• Required or Preferred Experience

• Prefers 1 to 3 years prior experience

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use a computer. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; climbing stairs, bend, twisting neck, twisting waist, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and requires the ability to occasionally lift bundles of newspapers, cases of rubber bands and plastic bags up to 25 pounds.
