Job Overview:

Southern California News Group, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking a Business Development & Sales Executive, Emerging Products to drive revenue growth for our Content Marketing channel, Skyline. This position has the ability to develop strong relationships, create strategic sales plans, and work for one of the largest media companies in the Southern California area!


The Business Development & Sales Executive, Emerging Products is responsible for the sales and development of digital marketing campaigns for target businesses and organizations. This role handles a high percentage of transactional selling with a large number of accounts. The ideal candidate will have solid experience with SEO, SEM advertising sales and account management.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively prospect, qualify, grow, and maintain all sales activities, from lead generation through close to advertisers with an emphasis on new business development.

  • Manage and improve the partnership with the customer to cultivate long-term business relationships

  • Using multiple lead sources, researches, plans and prioritizes prospects of potential customers in order to match customers targeted audience segments with SCNG/Skyline/Adtaxi products including print, internet banner advertising, Custom/Branded content, Influencer marketing, behavioral and contextual targeted networks, video, SEO/SEM, mobile, and social media

  • Display a thorough understanding of ad serving, ad networks and data management and search technologies

  • Possess expert knowledge in online media channels and some understanding of its correlation to offline executions. (features, benefits, pricing strategies, etc.)

  • Manage all inbound sales leads and develop a focused prospect list based on SCNG’s value proposition and market needs

  • Understand competitive sales strategies and can convey the value that our products and services have over the competition and uses product knowledge to develop a comprehensive counter-attack

  • Create, develop, and lead marketing presentations and create solution based needs proposals that sell the customer based on information provided by the customer

  • Develop strong relationships with senior-level contacts at client organizations (both technical and business relationships)

  • Ability to analyze and interpret key sales metrics and develop strategies to reach sales success

  • Actively pursue and maintain an understanding of current trends in the advertising technology industry

  • Navigate internally with various departments to create compelling media solutions for advertisers

  • Other duties as assigned to meet business needs

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of advertising/media sales experience with responsibility for strategic selling and client development; 3 most recent years must have demonstrated success selling in a primarily focused digital media or online advertising sales role.

  • Working knowledge of Salesforce, Excel and Powerpoint, and have experience in a sales enablement platform such as Outreach or Pardot.

  • Proficient in Zoom, Google Hangouts, or similar video conferencing

  • Superior knowledge of sales techniques including cold-calling, networking, lead generation, all with the ability to capture and close the deal with a proven track record of success driving revenue

  • Ability to work independently and be self-driven, with the ability to identify, plan and prioritize business opportunities

  • Proven track record of closing new business and negotiating multi-variable contracts

  • Positive and entrepreneurial attitude

  • Build and maintain strong and effective working relationships both internally and externally.

  • Strong presentation, organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities; demonstrated time management skills

  • Must have valid drivers license in order to visit clients on-site

Work Environment

  • This position may be permanent remote. This job operates in a professional office environment and at the Company and client sites for business meetings and presentations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
