Job Purpose: The Application Engineer will provide consultative services to customers to ensure efficient designs. He or she will develop quotes for new and existing customers while ensuring best price and quality standards are maintained.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Perform tooling design for new part requirements and place orders with tooling manufacturers
- Operate centralized quoting department for all Precision Converting branches
- Champion quote requests from other company salespeople and Precision Converting branches
- Manage the cost and time constraints for RFQ (inside 48-hour turnaround standard, manage by exception)
- Selecting, managing, and working with sub-contractors
- Communicate quote status to respective to Hisco salespeople at Precision Converting branches
- Design, install, and implement new production processes, monitoring modifications and upgrades, and assist, when required, in troubleshooting existing processes
- Solve production problems on the floor
- Perform tooling design for new part requirements and place orders with tooling manufacturers
- Maintain digital records of all quote activities
- Develop and maintain database of equipment inventory at Precision Converting branches
- Continually improve estimating processes and procedures for increased productivity and accuracy
- Other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience in Industrial Engineering or related field preferred
- 5+ years experience in custom converting designing and ordering rotary, steel rule and Class A tooling
- Must have previously run relevant equipment
- Fundamental knowledge/experience in implementing and maintaining ISO/Quality System procedures
- High level of experience and confidence in quoting die cut requirements for automotive, medical and electronics industries
- Experience/knowledge in AutoCad
