Job Overview:

St Paul Pioneer Press, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is searching for an Account Coordinator to join the team! Position Summary:

Our Account Coordinator will be responsible for playing a proactive role in the sales process with intent to free up selling time for outside sales representatives to generate revenue across our full suite of products, ranging from the daily newspaper, to twincities.com and digital advertising.

Responsibilities include assisting sales reps with customer contact, actively using resources to assist in new business prospecting, coordinating data and market research for assembling of presentations and sales proposals, This includes performing pre-sale client audits, post-sale client kick-off calls, and reporting reviews. We’re looking for someone with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure.

Major Functions:

  • Submit and implement all approved sales orders

  • Key liaison between the sales reps and ad ops team

  • Frontline contact and interaction with advertising customers to solve billing issues, asks consultative questions about basic business needs.

  • Multi-tasks daily work load and takes initiative based on customer understanding with frontline contacts including Sales Rep back up/answer customer questions/problem solve/information on business needs including aiding sales reps with historical client information, requests for pricing, pre-sale readiness

  • Actively works with internal and external resources to assist the team with new business generation.

  • Internal departmental help with weekly, monthly and quarterly sales reporting, contract negotiation, advertising adjustments.

  • Create research based-presentations and sales proposals with direction & support from the Sales Rep.

  • Rate approval entry and creation of basic spreadsheets for use with customized contract analysis.

  • Work with financial & data analysis such as taking information and using it in presentations.

  • Back up receiving advertising materials; check for correct rates on insertion orders and proper production specifications, size, date and caption; prepare layouts of advertising materials for pubset changes; verify ad proofs for accuracy as needed.

  • Scheduling advertisements in daily and Sunday papers, Print and Deliver, and preprinted inserts, according to orders received and maintain account files of the same as needed.

  • Monitor scheduling and placement of ads for accuracy, confirm rates and contract levels, interact with Accounting Department to insure proper billing charges. .

Education:

High School Diploma. College degree preferred.

Experience:

Must have 3-5 years of business experience. Knowledge or experience with sales preferred. Knowledge of marketing, and/or media helpful.

Skills:

Excellent communication skills both verbally & in professional documents, detail oriented, ability to organize, plan, prioritize and reprioritize workload effectively, proficient/up to date skills with computers and all MS Office Suite products (intermediate Excel skills), business knowledge of overall media/advertising with emphasis on print and digital advertising preferred, ability to effectively communicate with customers, understanding their needs and matching them to our suite of advertising solutions, takes initiative to collaborate with team to contribute to revenue generation, enjoys working in a team environment.

Decision Making:

Understands the short and long term customer business needs to assist with new business generation and customer recommendations.

Scope:

High degree of accuracy is required in all aspects of the job. This position requires the individual to be part of the sales process, and will assist the sales rep in their sales and customer service efforts. Every advertiser is extremely important to the Pioneer Press. Providing excellent sales, service, and marketing support is critical to our newspaper's competitive position.

Working Conditions:

Inside/Range 7:30-8:30 to 4:30-5:30pm depending on team customer needs.
